The 2023 Global Slavery Index estimated that on any day in 2021, there was an average of 1.1 million people enslaved in the United States alone. This is an alarming number for a country that had a population of about 330 million people that year. So this raises the question, what can we as individuals do to fight this despicable crime?
When you buy a consumer good do you think about the brand’s environmental impact? As of recently I have become more aware about my impact on the environment, and you should as well.
Recently in my English class, Mr. Clements started preparing us to read the book, Clap When You Land. He provided us with a slideshow that gave some background on the true event that the story is based on; the crash of flight AA587, in New York City, 2001, only two months after 9/11.

When you think of Central’s rival in sports, who do you think of? For most, one school comes to mind: Andover. Whether it’s an important football playoff game or tennis match, the rivalry between Andover and Central remains constant.

According to Cenus.gov, as of 2021, 16.9% of children in America are deep in poverty. This is something not everyone thinks about. People who don’t experience poverty usually don’t realize that almost 40 million Americans live in poverty.

The Catastrophe of Light Pollution
According to the International Dark Sky Association, “Light pollution is a side effect of industrial civilization. Its sources include building exterior and interior lighting, advertising, commercial properties, offices, factories, streetlights, and illuminated sporting venues.” Due to this pollution natural life cycles are inhibited and space observation is hindered.

Have you ever experienced an injury (minor or major) as a result of participating in a sport? According to The National Board for Certified Counselors, approximately “8 million high school students play sports in America” and of these athletes “an estimated 5,228,791 sports injuries occurred nationally” each year.

“The school spirit this year will be better than ever,” according to our (this year’s) Moses. “There will be some changes to Moses this year. We are expecting the Red Sea to be bigger than ever and for everyone to be cheering. As Moses, it is our job to make sure everyone is as loud as possible.”
